Forest Fires

Entrance fee to Grand Teton NP is included in the fee to Yellowstone. Two for one!

Yellowstone Lake

Largest alpine lake in the US and second in the world, after Lake Titicaca. Dimly visible on the near shore is the Yellowstone Lake Hotel - highly recommended.

Grand Canyon (of the) Yellowstone River.

Grand Prismatic Spring

Hayden Valley

Yellowstone River. Good wildlife spotting here. I made this by stitching together separate pix.

Old Faithful

Erupts every 45-55 min., making it the "most" faithful of the geysers. Taken from the other side, away from the parking lots.

Bison

The background persons are playing frisbee. By law you had to maintain a distance of 25 yards from grazers and 100 yards from predators.
  

Mule Deer

Startled by my bear-related singing, no doubt.
  

Elk

Female sheltering from the heat. Males regrow their horns every year. Elk look like deer, only larger. A tourist who got too close to a mother and calves was kicked in the head, during my visit.

  

Marmot

Very cute and curious. Also not dangerous.
